It’s Narberth Fourth of July Weekend!
We have a wonderful Day program of activities for you as well as our world famous 4th of July Fireworks!
(Did you know we have been ranked #2 on the East Coast for our Day Activities and Nightime Fireworks?
(ahead of #3 NYC and sorry Philly… but we still love you!).
See:
http://www.vacationsmadeeasy.
Enjoy the NarbWeekend and make sure you sing our town song often (just cut it out and bring it to the
Fireworks!)
“LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING
THIS I KNOW IS TRUE
IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER
BETWEEN ME AND YOU
LIKE THIS LITTLE TOWN I KNOW
WHERE ELM TREES TOUCH THE SKY
THERE'S A WHOLE LOT GOIN' ON
MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
(CHORUS)
BIG HEARTS
BIG DREAMS
BIG SMILES
BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING
EVERYWHERE
BIG THOUGHTS
BIG JOKES
BIG LAUGHS
BIG HOPES ARE FILLING THE AIR
NARBERTH IS A BIG LITTLE TOWN
FROM ROCKLAND TO MONTGOMERY
TO HAVERFORD AVENUE
EVERYBODY'S TAKING PRIDE
IN EVERYTHING THEY DO
FROM FATHER TO DAUGHTER
TO EVERY MOTHER'S SON
THIS TOWN'S GOT A HISTORY
AND YET IT'S JUST BEGUN
(CHORUS)
THE ROCKET'S RED GLARE
ON THE 4TH OF JULY
OLD GLORY'S FLYING HIGH
THE CRACK OF THE BAT
THE BOUNCE OF THE BALL
HEAR THE TRAINMAN'S CALL
(CHORUS)”
"NARBERTH IS A BIG LITTLE TOWN*"-Lyrics and Music by Karl V. Westman
* The title of this song was taken from a sign that was on the wall of the business of Harvey Cook, Sr., at the
Narberth Avenue Bridge.
Sing often (and loud!)
The Fireworks Still Need You!!!!
One of our many brags in Narberth is our awesome 4th of July Fireworks display (Ranked 2nd best on the East
Coast!) It brings in hundreds of visitors, and it is expensive to put on (even though our crew is made up of
local individuals trained and certified in the art of pyrotechnics who donate their time to help keep the cost
down.)
The Fourth of July Committee makes this great event happen for us every year, and they rely on bucket
donations from the many visitors who flock to Narberth to enjoy our show each year.
If you ever wondered how those friendly faces came to be holding buckets and taking in donations -- it’s easy!
They contacted Kathy Hempfling Hansell and offered to help. Kathy keeps volunteers at 6 or 7 different
locations from 6:30 to 9:30, and she needs enthusiastic Narbs like you to man the buckets for a hour or two.
Help keep this tradition going! Please contact Kathy today! Kathy can be reached at 610-664-4240 and 610-
724-2968.
Thank you!

Pool Survey for the Cynwyd Club:
As you may have heard, the Cynwyd Club, a private club on Trevor Lane in Bala Cynwyd
(www.cynwydclub.org), is contemplating the elimination of three tennis courts and their replacement with a
members-only pool, and has obtained all necessary zoning approvals from the Lower Merion Township
Zoning Hearing Board to do so. Once land use plans are complete and approved, opening of the pool and its
related facilities can be expected in the summer of 2017.
In order to assess interest among its neighbors in this undertaking, the Club has composed a brief survey that I
ask you to complete (see link below). The Club is especially eager to attract new members from the
neighborhood to invigorate and expand its membership.
Accordingly, please assist by answering this brief survey.

Our Bakers CSB (community supported bankers) (http://ourbakers.com) has been running locally at The
Greeks Next Door for over a month now. Friday nights are a happening time to do some beer tasting and
purchase delicious artisanal craft breads and baked goods. You can also order a 15-week bread share online

employ and train people with disabilities, is there every Friday night bewteen 5 and 7 selling Bavarian

This is a project of New Avenue Foundation (http://newfdn.org) a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to
help create more meaningful lives for people with disabilities.

3.) Tuesday, June 28, 2016, *Narberth Community Food Bank *
All are Welcome!*
Many thanks to all who volunteer, donate and support the NARBERTH COMMUNITY FOOD BANK to help
end hunger in our community. We also thank the Narberth Community Library for having a receptacle by the
circulation desk for much-needed donations of non-perishable food items to make it easier for library patrons
and other Narberth citizens to drop off donations during library hours (10:00 to 8:00 Monday to Thursday and
10:00 to 5:00 Friday and Saturday). The food bank is always in need of canned chicken/turkey/tuna,
unsweetened hot or cold cereal, granola bars, jelly, canned fruit, popcorn, rice, quinoa, boxed milk and gluten-
free pasta, soups and crackers. A few extra cans or items from your shopping trip makes a difference to help
address the significant need right here in Narberth and Lower Merion. Of course financial support is also
always welcome and donations can be made online through PayPal
