Merion, Narberth, Wynnewood, Ardmore, Haverford and Bryn Mawr) as he arrives by train to Narberth on
Sunday!
Please join us as we begin the Santa season in the Boro. This weekend will be a wonderful time to shop and
dine in our downtown (the heart of the Main Line) and on Sunday join us for carols, hot chocolate (it’s cold,
you’ll need it) and cookies as we sing for Santa.
Remember what Buddy the elf says: “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”

Our Library is setting up a novelty baking pan lending service. If you have any pans you'd like to donate (like
Winnie the Poo, Santa, Big Bird, etc.), please drop them off at the Library when they are open. Other libraries

Thank you to all who volunteer, donate and support ending hunger in our community.
In order to facilitate donations to the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Community Library has become a
Drop Off point for donations. There is a receptacle just inside the library front door, in front of the circulation
desk. We hope this will make it easier for library patrons and other Narberth citizens to drop off much needed
donations at a time that is convenient for them. The library is open from 10:00 to 8:00 - Monday thru
Thursday and 10:00 to 5:00 - Friday and Saturday. www.NarberthCivic.org/news is now publishing a self-
updating notice of items currently needed for donation to the food bank at the Narberth Family Resource
Center. The needs change regularly, and so will this list. I hope this will facilitate more efficient giving. Please
remember the food bank! Even just a few extra cans or items from
a trip makes a difference. There is significant and regular need right here in Lower Merion & Narberth. Check

New Horizons Senior Center, your local community resource for active adults 55 and older, is now located in
the hub of Narberth, at Narberth Borough Hall, 100 Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor. Since 1976, New Horizons
has been providing a wide array of programs and services to appeal to the interests, talents, and desires of local
seniors, keeping them active, engaged, and independent. The Center is open Monday through Friday, from

Volunteers Needed! Become a part of an active network that supports and sustains each other. We’re seeking
volunteers for various positions at New Horizons! Let us know your hobbies, skills and expertise, and we can
structure a volunteer position that suits you. We’re looking for art, history, cooking, music, science, Mah
Jongg instructors, help with mailings, hosts and hostesses and more. Interested volunteers can inquire via

Daily Lunch, Monday through Friday at Noon: New Horizons serves a full course lunch every weekday at
Noonfor adults 60 and over. The meals are planned by a local nutritionist and are catered by Betty the Caterer.
Meals are available to eat-in or take-out, for a suggested donation of $2.00 per meal. This program is

New Horizons newly expanded social work programming is developed by Peter Adels, social work intern at
the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Programs are devoted to specific need
and topics to provide information, discussion and support for both groups and individuals. All services are
provided without charge, but membership is encouraged and donations are accepted.
--Full Circle Discussion Group--Mondays at 10:30 AM:
Adults 55 and over who no longer work are invited to join other retired seniors in an ongoing discussion about
what to do now that the daily job is done.
--Men’s Support Group--Thursdays at 11:00 AM: A group exclusive to men 55 and over. Join other males in
discussing the subjects near and dear to your heart.
--Caregivers Support Group—Friday at 10:30 AM: It is a very demanding job to be a caregiver for someone
This group lead by Peter Adels is for both seniors and caregivers and is designed to provide a break and a
chance to share with others and feel their support.
--Coping with Loss—Friday at 12:30 PM:
The impact of the loss of a loved one is forever and everyone deals with grief differently. This support group
lead by New Horizons Social Worker Peter Adels is for anyone 55 and over dealing with the aftermath of the
loss of a loved one.

a) Walking Club--Fridays at 9:30 AM: Tired of walking alone? Seniors interested in getting fit and meeting
other fun people, can join the New Horizon Walking Club. For Beginner and Intermediate walkers, not a race!
Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Meet at the center at 9:30 AM, weather permitting. Stop by 100

permitting basis, advance registration is requested.
b) Interior Design Workshop—Tuesday, December 2 at 10:30 AM:
Ali Dabbagh is hosting an introductory workshop for adults 55 and over, on December 2 at 10:30 AM, on
using design elements to create a favorable environment in your home. The workshop will run for about an
hour, and cover a number of design implementations. Interested seniors should call 6100 664-2366 to sign-up,

c) Author Series: The Empty Net by Dr. Peter Kowey—Wednesday, December 3 at 12:30 PM: Adults 55 and
over are invited to join Main Line Health Cardiologist and Fiction Writer Dr. Peter Kowey at New Horizons
on December 3, at12:30 PM. Dr. Kowey will be discussing his third murder mystery novel, The Empty Net,
and answering questions about his work as a Fiction Writer. Stop by 100 Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor,

d) Cooking Demo: Holiday Appetizers--Friday, December 5 at 12:45 PM: If you are 55 or over and love to
cook—or just love to eat good food—the Center invites you to join other like-minded individuals and witness
the culinary genius of Adrian Seltzer as she teaches participants how to use a few simple ingredients to make
wonderful meals. This month, she will be demonstrating how to make Holiday Appetizers on December 5 at
12:45 PM. The fee is $4 for Members, $6 for Non-Members, and attendee get to partake in what is made!

e) "Last Chance Cafe" with Jack Scott and Ingrid Rosenback-- Wednesday, December 10 at 12:30 PM: New
Horizons is excited to bring the "Last Chance" musical group to the Center on Wednesday, December 10.
Traditional and contemporary folk roots duo, Jack Scott and Ingrid Rosenback, will perform traditional folk
songs, original music and fiddle and banjo music. Sit down with friends, have a sweet treat and listen to
fabulous songs, performedlive by talented folk musicians. We know you'll enjoy this exciting performance!

We're showing our favorite "A Charlie Brown Christmas" followed by "Elf" in the Auditorium, Boro Hall, 100
Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor, Narberth beginning at 7:00 P.M. Movie Night is always "FREE" and there will be
refreshments, popcorn and candy available. Parents/Guardians: Grab a bite to eat or holiday shop in our
wonderful downtown during the movie. There will be a sign-in sheet or just see me (I'm the projectionist) at
