Nannygoat, the Great American Pub and Sweet Mabel are all celebrating First Friday from 5 -9 pm! Grab your favorite
friend or date and head on into town for an evening of fun. Nannygoat's design theme for April is SPRING FLING
and to celebrate, you'll find wine & cheese on Friday night from 5-9 and mimosas all day on Saturday. Stop in and say

4.) Saturday, April 5, 2014, 6:30 pm to 11 pm - St. Margaret School hosts 14th Annual BlueFest Auction & Dinner
raising funds for the school needs. There will be something for everyone, auction items, raffles, live band and dinner
catered by Pub of Penn Valley with an open bar. Reservations are recommended in advance and can be made through
the link on the school website through Friday April 4 for $65 per person. Reservations at the door are $75 per person.

5.) Sunday, April 6, 2014 it’s Narberth T-Ball and Coffee Opening Day! The kids take the field at 9:00 AM for

6.) Monday, April 7, 2014 through the rest of the week. New Horizons Senior Center, your local community
resource for active adults 55 and older, is now located at Narberth Borough Hall, 100 Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor. We
are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 2 PM, and serve lunch every day at Noon. Come check out our great programs
to expand your horizons!
a) Take Charge: With the Help of Friends: A FREE 14 week program designed to focus on healthy habits that will aid

b) Walking Club--Tuesdays and Fridays in April at9:00 AM:
Tired of walking alone? Seniors interested in getting fit and meeting other fun people, can join the New Horizon
Walking Club. Now that the weather is getting better, you can meet, get outside, take a walk and talk. For Intermediate
walkers, not a race! Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Meet at the center at 9 AM, weather permitting. Stop

c) Full Circle: Discussion/Support Group for Boomers and Active Adults led by Debbie Hoffman--Tuesdays in April
at 12:45 PM: Are you retired and not used to having so much free time? New Horizons Senior Center is hosting a
Meet-up Group on Tuesdays at 12:45 PM for Retirees looking to meet like-minded adults experiencing the same sense
of “Now What?!” Discuss ideas and strategies to develop rewarding, enriching and fulfilling ways to utilize your time.

d) BINGO at New Horizons! Wednesday, April 9starting at 12:30 PM: New Horizons is hosting a BINGO
tournament on Wednesday, April 9 for any adult 55 or over who wishes to play. Games are 50 cents a card, and
participants can buy as many cards as they want! Winners get to pick a prize from the table! Come early and enjoy a

e) Tai Chi Interactive Performance--Friday, April 11 at 11 AM: New Horizons will host an interactive Tai Chi
performance/demonstration by world-renowned Master Jingshan Tang at 11am on Friday April 11th. Master Tang is
the founder of Oriental Fitness Institute, an advisor to the USA Wushu-Kung Fu Federation, a certified teacher of Tai
Chi & Qigong and has been featured on the Discovery Channel twice. Master Tang will draw upon his experience to
give an unforgettable demonstration, assisted by New Horizons’ own Executive Director & certified Tai Chi instructor,
Elissa Berardi.
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art, an “internal art”, that is practiced in deliberate but flowing movements as slowly as
possible with deep relaxing breathing. While the motion appears slow, soft and effortless it nevertheless strengthens the
body. The slow movements help align and balance the body’s internal energy paths, enabling chi or qi (internal energy)
to flow freely through the body. The process relaxes and invigorates the body while clearing and focusing the mind.
Tai Chi can improve flexibility, balance and overall health while helping to combat stress. Call 610 664-2366 to sign-

f) Basic Printmaking with Tamara Clements--Wednesday, April 16 at 12:30, $2.00: Are you curious about the
printmaking processes? Take a look at a variety of prints and learn about the differences of the printmaking processes,
including etching, woodcut, and silk screen. Then try your hand at a very simple, fun and easy relief printmaking
process and make multiple color prints. $2 Materials Fee. Come early and enjoy a delicious lunch of Turkey Ham with

NCFB will offer open computer times for adults beginning this Tuesday, 3/18, 6pm. Sign up for health insurance, pay

Thank you to all who volunteer, donate and support ending hunger in our community.
In order to facilitate donations to the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Community Library has become a Drop Off
point for donations. There is a recepticle just inside the library front door, in front of the circulation desk. We hope this
will make it easier for library patrons and other Narberth citizens to drop off much needed donations at a time that is
convenient for them. The library is open from 10:00 to 8:00 - Monday thru Thursday and 10:00 to 5:00 - Friday and
Saturday. www.NarberthCivic.org/news is now publishing a self-updating notice of items currently needed for
donation to the food bank at the Narberth Family Resource Center. The needs change regularly, and so will this list. I
hope this will facilitate more efficient giving. Please remember the food bank! Even just a few extra cans or items from
a trip makes a difference. There is significant and regular need right here in Lower Merion & Narberth. Check out the
article space in the top right hand column of NarberthCivic.org/news under Family Resource Center of Narberth. Thank

9.) Saturday, April 12, 2014, Narbs and Nearbs! I am on the committee for the Sustainable Business Network of
Philadelphia's annual Ball - Sustainaball. It is on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the German Society in Philadelphia (6th &
Spring Garden). I hope you'll join me to dance the night away and check out this awesome community of businesses
and individuals who are creative change makers, social entrepreneurs and sustainability thought leaders. There will be

13.) Saturday, April 26, 2014, NarbEarth Day News:
The 25th annual NarbEarth Day, on Saturday, April 26, from 12pm to 4pm, looks like it may be the best yet.
NarbEarth Day is an afternoon of celebration and care for the Earth, presented by the Narberth Civic Association.
This free family event is a fun and engaging environmental fair for children and adults that features exhibits and
activities promoting environmental aware ess and responsibility. The event is held outdoors in Narberth Park, right next
to the Narberth Community Library, on Windsor Avenue.
The Narberth Civic Association board invites the community to “come out and play on NarbEarth Day!” Patsy
Higgins-Dent, one of the event organizers, notes, "From composting to electric cars, this year's exhibitors span a wide
range of environmental issues. There are hands-on activities specifically for kids, including recycled material craft
projects, seed and flower planting, and displays of live domestic and small wild animals, plus plenty for adults.”
Georgette DuBois, president of the Narberth Civic Association advises locals, “Watch for our EarthDay poster around
town for more details. Stroll by the Narberth Civic Association's window at Ricklin's Hardware. Come and celebrate
Planet Earth, learn about the environment, wildlife, animals and sustainability while eating great food, mingling with
friends and neighbors, and enjoying the old and the new at NarbEarth Day.”
DuBois adds that, “Everything is geared toward learning to live in a more environmentally-friendly way, including the
food at the event. This year, in addition to wonderful food by JPM Catering, we’ll have fair trade locally roasted
coffee from Between Friends, organic baked goods from Arrowroot Natural Foods, and natural fruit pops from
MomPops.”
Exhibits at the event will offer opportunities to learn about composting and how to use rain barrels, what you can and
can’t recycle, and how to use green energy. Ardmore Nissan will be demonstrating their electric car, the Leaf.
Thanks to the Narberth Area Garden Club, children will be able to plant flower seedsin small pots to take home, and
will be able to plant an Earthday Garden to enhance the entrance to the library and playground. The event also features
lively old-timey music by NCA Board Member Rich Meyers and his friends.
"We want to make sure everyone knows that there are several things you can bring to NarbEarth Day,” Higgins-Dent
says. “Since ‘living green’ means making every effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, bring used and in-good-condition
toys and household goods for the table sponsored by the online group, LM-NarberthTotallyFreeItems.
might find a totally free treasure there yourself! The Narberth Lions club will be collecting used eye glasses - so bring
those along too. Gardeners can bring perennials and houseplants to the plant exchange. But you don’t have to bring
something to swap. You’re welcome to take what you can use and make a small donation to the NCA.
If you want to go home with a unique souvenir, you can even bring your own t-shirt to the event. There will be a
hands-on project run by The Handwork Studio that you can participate in! Or choose your design to be printed on a
new organic cotton t-shirt.
This year there will be an expanded raffle, with prizes from local business for adults and kids. These include
environmentally safe cleaning products, and organic food items, services, like tree treatments or organic lawn care, gift
certificates to yoga classes, groceries at Whole Foods or Mom’s Organic, and much more.
NarbEarth Day was started in 1990 (the 20th Earth Day) by the Narberth Civic Association, and has become a beloved
community tradition. The Narberth Civic Association is a non-profit, non-partisan organization promoting the civic
interests of the residents of Narberth, Pennsylvania. Membership is open to all Narberth residents and businesses.
Information about joining the Narberth Civic Association will be available at NarbEarth Day and is online at
www.narberthcivic.org.
Proceeds from NarbEarth Day support Narberth Civic Association activities throughout the year.
