Friday, August 8, 2014 Edition of NarbNet!

August 08, 2014

Welcome to the Friday, August 8, 2014 Edition of NarbNet!

Congratulations to us!
Yes, we made Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly for our Playground Courts.  Kobe Bryant, Artis Gilmore
and Wilt Chamberlain all played Narberth Courts as well as quite a few Lucas, Hanlons and Carneys (and many,
many more Narbs (yes, Sophie and Meggy too) continue to be added along the way.)
The wonderful story never ends and new chapters are written every year.
That’s just another reason we all love Narberth.

Are you on a Narbcation?
Enjoy the quiet (and lack of cars) but if you decide to leave our Boro (and just why would you?) make sure you
let our police department know and they will check on your home while you’re away.
We have streamlined the process and you can sign up directly from the police website located at:
http://www.narberthpolice.org/ by using the Contact button!  Enjoy your vacation or Narbcation!

But before you go, check out these deadlines:

From Holy Trinity, Narberth at the corner of N. Narberth & Woodbine Avenues

Please join us in welcoming our new Vicar, Josh Ferris and his wife Annie to Narberth!  Vicar Josh started his
residency with Holy Trinity, Narberth on July 20 and brings a fresh, new approach to worship in Narberth.  Josh
and Annie will be making their home here, and we hope they will love Narberth as much as we all do.

It’s time for Weird Animals Vacation Bible Camp! Get ready for a peek at the unique!  Weird Animals is a
habitat filled with incredible learning experiences that kids can see, hear, and touch. Sciency-Fun Gizmos at the
Imagination Station, team-building games, cool Bible songs and stories, and a tasty dinner are just a few of the
standout activities that help faith flow into real life.  Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in
everyday life - something we call God Sightings. We’ll also be raising money for kids and families in need
through an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)  project called God’s Global Barnyard.  This
organization provides farm animals to families and communities to reduce hunger and poverty in a self-sustaining
way.

So mark these dates on your calendar: every Wednesday evening in August - 8/6, 8/13, 8/20 and 8/27 The fun
starts at 5:30 pm and will end at 8:00 pm.

Call 610-664-5503 or email [email protected] to register your children for this amazing adventure!

We have a Youth Group for youth in grades 6 - 12! We meet once a month for fun and fellowship on Sunday
evenings, beginning in September.  Call 610-664-5503  or email [email protected] for more
information.

We're Making A Difference!

Holy Trinity, Narberth has installed three raised-bed gardens and is growing fresh vegetables for the Narberth
Community Food Bank, in a collaboration between Triskeles, Food For All and the NCFB. We have had our
first harvests, totaling over 20 pounds of cucumbers, eggplant, and peppers!  We have tons of tomatoes almost
ready to pick.  Call the church at 610-667-5503 for more information or if you would like to help harvest or
water the gardens.

We are Open to All!

Our Sunday Morning Worship service starts at 10:15 AM and is open to all.  Whether you are Lutheran or
anything else, stop by and check us out, and be sure to stick around after church for Coffee Hour - affectionately
called "Happy Hour" by some.  We hope to see you there!  Check out our website at
www.holytrinitynarberth.org for more information.

Thank you to all who volunteer, donate and support ending hunger in our community.

In order to facilitate donations to the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Community Library has become a Drop
Off point for donations.  There is a receptacle just inside the library front door, in front of the circulation desk.
We hope this will make it easier for library patrons and other Narberth citizens to drop off much needed
donations at a time that is convenient for them.  The library is open from 10:00 to 8:00 - Monday thru Thursday
and 10:00 to 5:00 - Friday and Saturday. www.NarberthCivic.org/news is now publishing a self-updating notice
of items currently needed for donation to the food bank at the Narberth Family Resource Center. The needs
change regularly, and so will this list. I hope this will facilitate more efficient giving. Please remember the food
bank! Even just a few extra cans or items from
a trip makes a difference. There is significant and regular need right here in Lower Merion & Narberth. Check
out the article space in the top right hand column of NarberthCivic.org/news under Family Resource Center of
Narberth. Thank you for your support!
