Welcome to the
Tonight (and probably the weekend) is a wonderful, rainy (sort of hurricainey) night to stay local and spend
some family and friend time in the Boro for First Friday! Check out the events below, walk the “Triangle”
(find what is left of “Holy Wooder”) and exchange “I got outta town” vacation or Pope stories from last
weekend (thumbs up, thumbs down or Pope wave) and support our small town.
Remember: Saturday’s Narberth Oktoberfest has been postponed to next Saturday October 10 (same time and
details below.) I received some story that this “Joaquin” was going to take all the tents away…
“Few other towns in the ‘burbs better replicate the chatty, front-stoop quality of city living that sociable
Narberth.”-from Philly Mag’s “Q: ‘Burb towns for urbanites?”, October 2015.

Help the Narberth Lutheran Church!
Here's the plan: 60 volunteers + 2 hours + $5,000 = 20,000 meals.
On Saturday, October 3, Holy Trinity will gather with brothers and sisters at Grace Lutheran Church in the
Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia to pack 20,000 meals for Grace's food pantry. Each month they serve
thousands of the hungriest people in our city.
We need your help! We're working to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of 20,000 meals. Any size contribution
makes a difference. Each meal costs just 25 cents. $1 can feed 4 families.
You can make a donation by visiting http://www.gofundme.com/
on the post outside our church's giving garden, and donation jars set up at local businesses throughout our
town.
If you'd like to serve with us on October 3, we'd love to have you! Transportation and food will be provided. If
you're interested, call (610-664-5503) or email ([email protected]
share this opportunity with friends and family. All are welcome!

Narberth Community Food Bank Summer update!
Thank you to all who volunteer, donate and support ending hunger in our community. In order to facilitate
donations to the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Community Library has become a Drop Off point for
donations. There is a receptacle just inside the library front door, in front of the circulation desk. We hope this
will make it easier for library patrons and other Narberth citizens to drop off much needed donations at a time
that is convenient for them. The library is open from 10:00 to 8:00 - Monday thru Thursday and 10:00 to 5:00
- Friday and Saturday.
www.NarberthCivic.org/news is now publishing a self-updating notice of items currently needed for donation
to the food bank at the Narberth Family Resource Center. The needs change regularly, and so will this list. I
hope this will facilitate more efficient giving. Please remember the food bank! Even just a few extra cans or
items from a trip makes a difference. There is significant and regular need right here in Lower Merion &
Narberth. Check out the article space in the top right hand column of NarberthCivic.org/news under Family
Resource Center of Narberth. Thank you for your support!

The seventh annual Narberth Oktoberfest is Saturday October 10, 2014, from 5 pm to 9pm. This is the fifth
year it has been held under festival tents in Narberth Park. The $45 ticket price includes a souvenir mug, local
beers, live music, and festival food, including a pig roast, turkey, pretzels, brats & sauerkraut, dessert, and
more. Proceeds benefit the Narberth Volunteer Fire Department and the Narberth Dickens Festival. Get more

Is babysitting available?
We're confirming that now. Babysitting is limited to the first 50 children of ticket-holders who are pre-
registered.
Local high school students will provide babysitting in the big room at Borough Hall. These teen girls are all
certified babysitters, and they will also have adult supervision. They are raising money for group/team
activities, so please make an appropriate and generous donation. Kids will play games, have pizza, and watch
a family-friendly movie while parents are around the corner enjoying Oktoberfest. This service is for potty-
trained kids 3 and older.
