January 16, 2015

Welcome to the Friday, January 16, 2015 Edition of NarbNet!

Narberth Town Hall!
What are you thoughts on the vision, creation and development of Public Space/Piazza in our Downtown
Narberth?
On Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 7:00 PM in Narberth Borough Hall, 100 Conway Avenue, I will be
holding a Narberth Town Hall Meeting to exchange and discuss our visions for the use of Public Space/Piazza
in Downtown Narberth. All are welcome to attend and engage in creative public comment and open dialog.
Thank you!
P.S. I have posted several articles of interest regarding “placemaking” on the Facebook Narberth Town Hall
(https://www.facebook.com/NarberthTownHall) page and below for your consideration before the meeting.

Mayor’s Movie Night!
Tonight we're showing our chilly favorite "Frozen!" at 7:00 PM, Borough Hall for Mayor’s Movie Night!
(more info on the movie and babysitting below!)

We love our NarbDogs! (but please remember to pick up those special “presents” left on the neighbor’s
property or public right of way and properly dispose of the bags in the trash.)  Woof Woof! (translation: Thank
You!)

Please Slow Down and Stop.
School’s back in session and I would request that all Narbs and Nearbs remember to come to a complete stop
at designated stop signs in the Borough. Our children rely on you to completely stop (hey, no rolling) for their
safety.

In order to facilitate donations to the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Community Library has become a
Drop Off point for donations.  There is a receptacle just inside the library front door, in front of the circulation
desk. We hope this will make it easier for library patrons and other Narberth citizens to drop off much needed
donations at a time that is convenient for them.  The library is open from 10:00 to 8:00 - Monday thru
Thursday and 10:00 to 5:00 - Friday and Saturday. www.NarberthCivic.org/news is now publishing a self-
updating notice of items currently needed for donation to the food bank at the Narberth Family Resource
Center. The needs change regularly, and so will this list. I hope this will facilitate more efficient giving. Please
remember the food bank! Even just a few extra cans or items from
a trip makes a difference. There is significant and regular need right here in Lower Merion & Narberth. Check
out the article space in the top right hand column of NarberthCivic.org/news under Family Resource Center of
Narberth. Thank you for your support!

New Horizons Book Club: A Separate Peace - by John Knowles--Thursday, January 22 at 10:00 AM:
with Chris Jackson
Fees: free for members, $2 for non-members
New Horizons’ popular Book Club returns Thursday, January 22 at 10 AM.  Join former Librarian Chris
Jackson and fellow book-lovers in a fun-filled discussion of "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles, an
American classic and great bestseller for over thirty years.

Set at a boys’ boarding school in New England during World War II, A Separate Peace is a parable of the dark
side of adolescence. Gene is a lonely, introverted intellectual. Phineas is a handsome, taunting, daredevil
athlete. What happens between the two friends one summer, like the war itself, banishes the innocence of these
boys and their world.

The books can be obtained in the Narberth Library. Afterwards,  stay for a delicious lunch provided by Betty
the Caterer for only $2.  Stop by 100 Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor, Narberth to sign-up, or call 610 664-2366.

Story Share--Wednesday, January 28 at 9:30 AM:

Storytelling is as old as ancient times and very rewarding. It helps us understand ourselves and others.  In this
workshop, create short stories as a group together and also share your own stories--which may be funny,
touching, sad, real or imagined.

No experience necessary! If you remember something, you have a story to tell.

Please call 610-664-2366 or stop by 100 Conway Avenue, 2nd Floor, Narberth, to make your reservations!
